Depending on how your computer is configured and how your corporate security is managed, you may need to add permissions and/or start services - even if you are an 'administrator'.
I've installed the Treasury Software SQL Express Host (database) on my machine, but I can't see it when I attempt to migrate.
Notes:
--If you are trying to connect to a SQL Express host on another computer, please use step #1, but substitute '(local)' for the name of that computer.
--The migration wizard is available by entering into any account, and then from the main menu - File > Migrate to SQL or SQL Express.

Inadequate permissions
Service has not been started
Enter into any account, and then from the top menu select 'Settings' > 'Migrate to SQL Express, SQL Server'.
We will simply type in the server name. The selection:
(local)
should be listed first. Append the selection by typing in \TREASOFT, and then check the SQL Express checkbox below. Click Next.
If you see
after this, or any of the steps below - you are done - congratulations. Otherwise, close the Wizard and follow the next steps.
Goal - Add your Windows login ID to the Group managing the SQL Express instance 'TREASOFT'.
Depending on your operating system and tools:
Windows XP - Control Panel, User Accounts, Advanced Tab, Advanced User Management area - click 'Advanced' button to open 'Local Users and Groups'.
Windows Server 2003 - Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Active Directory Users and Computers.
All:
Select 'Groups' to list all groups. You will see a number of groups starting with 'SQL'. Look for the one that ends in 'TREASOFT'. Right click on it, select properties and add yourself as a member of the group.
Close the window and try to migrate to SQL Express from within Treasury Software using step #1.
If unsuccessful, add yourself (Windows login ID) to the other SQL groups as well and repeat.
Click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner and then at the top right search for "view local services".
Note: If you are running a operating system prior to Windows 8 right click on your Windows 'My Computer'. From the pop-up menu select 'Manage'. Click on 'Services and Applications', then 'Services'. Scroll towards the bottom of the list and you will see a number of services starting with 'SQL Server'. Look for the one that is labeled 'TREASOFT' and make sure that it has been started. If not click on it and start the service.
Note: Do not start/stop any other services.
Close the window and try to migrate to SQL Express from within Treasury Software using step #1.
