For a 'typical' import, choose what is easiest and most comfortable for you to prepare.  The following file formats can be imported without any additional steps:

--Access

--Excel

--Text, comma delimited

--Text, tab delimited.

Text, fixed width format requires an extra step, as the columns need to be defined.

For 'non-typical' imports (multi-currency/multi-format files), see International.

Note: When automating an import, make sure that the extension of the file name always reflects the nature of the file.  Comma delimited files (csv), should always contain the extension of csv when automating the import process.
